Bobby Skinner Memorial Youth Hockey Fund

Who was Bobby Skinner?

Bobby was a young man of “grit” and perseverance. The motto, “Never Ever Give Up,” guided his all-too short life. Bobby did not always make the hockey teams that he wanted to, but he never gave up. He worked very hard on his skating skills, physical health, and discipline in order to fulfill his dreams.

Bobby faced many challenges in his young life. He endured years of speech therapy, learning difficulties, and bullying. These challenges led him to never quit, nor would he let any of his friends, classmates, or teammates.

Ice hockey provided Bobby with a balance of structure, with important life skills including discipline, teamwork, communication, and respect. These life lessons helped Bobby overcome adversity and catapulted him to a successful and meaningful life path.

Bobby was kind, generous and thoughtful. He cared much for the less fortunate. He would want to help others have access to the sport of ice hockey which he loved so much.

What is the mission of the Bobby Skinner Memorial Youth Hockey Fund?

This fund is established in memory of Bobby Skinner, a young hockey player, whose life was cut short at the young age of 22 due to an accident involving gun violence.

The mission of the fund is to help young people of all life circumstances gain access to ice hockey through financial assistance, resources, and ongoing support
